I have been a single parent for 21 years. I have three children that have all had serious medical conditions at some point in time in their life; my oldest son with 4 collapsed lungs, my daughter with a brain tumor and many revision surgeries on her shunt and my youngest son has epilepsy. I am living on medical disability due to two major accidents since 1999. My two sons are doing better medically, but my daughter is the one who has suffered the most. My daughter has had 8 major brain surgeries in the last 4 years, 12 total in her life time. Each surgery has incurred very large bills to pay. In January 2005 she had 4 surgeries in 11 days on her brain. On the day of her last surgery I was admitted to a different hospital for heart related problems. In July 2005 my daughter and I were in a local store and a store employee dropped a palette of boxes on top of her. This accident disupted all the surgeries and healing process that she was going through. She has been seeing over 12 different doctors over the last year to help correct the problems caused by the accident. She has had many medical problems due to this accident, above in beyond the all ready exsiting medical problems with her shunt. At this point in time her medical bills are over $80,000 and growing. We can not even come close to paying this amount off. This amount is actually after Medicare payments were made. The late fees and collections are growing even with the minimal payments we can make. We are finding it hard to even put food on the table, let alone pay every day bills like utilites, phone and car insurance. We could use any help that would be offered.
